What is the Levoit Vista 200 Air Purifier Best For?
Bedrooms: the Vista 200 is designed for rooms up to 171 square feet, (an average living room or larger bedroom). What’s more, it is quiet and discreet, with LED lights that can be switched off, and a dedicated “sleep mode”. Such features are excellent for people who require air purification through the night but cannot tolerate noise or light disturbances.

Asthma and allergies: true to Levoit standards, the Vista 200 does not have any ozone-creating features (such as ionizers or UV-C lights), making it safe for those who suffer from asthma and ozone-triggered allergies.
The filtration system takes care of the most common household allergens, even the tiny ones, thanks to the true-HEPA filter and pre-filter. Many positive reviews describe heavily-reduced allergy symptoms upon waking in the morning, and a more bearable experience during hayfever season.
Household odors: if your small space is occupied by pets, smokers, or food, the Vista 200 can help to reduce the associated odors. The activated carbon filter works to absorb odors and keep the air smelling fresh and neutral. Check out our review of the best air purifiers for pet odors here.

Size, Weight, Coverage, and Ratings
CADR: The Levoit Vista 200 has an overall CADR rating of 40cfm but does not have any specific ratings for dust, smoke, and pollen as many other air purifiers do.
CADR refers to “clean air delivery rate” and indicates how fast the air purifier takes to clear a certain room size.
Size: 7.9 x 7.9 x 12.9 inches
Weight: 3.3 pounds
Coverage: up to 171 square feet
Energy-Star certified? Yes
Filtration System
All Levoit air purifiers feature the same 3-stage filtration system with a pre-filter, true-HEPA, and activated carbon filter. This is an excellent lineup, especially since the filters are cylindrical and offer 360-degree filtration around the entire unit.
The filters come in one single piece, with all three filter stages stacked in one cylinder. This certainly makes things easier when it’s time to buy and install replacements.
Pre-filter: catches large particles such as dust, lint, and hair so the true-HEPA can remain cleaner and more efficient for longer
True-HEPA filter: catches smaller particles (99.97% as small as 0.3 microns) such as dust mites, pollen, and even certain bacteria
Activated carbon filter: neutralizes odors including smoke and pet smells
Does the Levoit Vista 200 have an Ionizer?
No, Levoit air purifiers are made in California and comply with the CARB requirements for clean and safe air. For this reason, they do not use any ionizers or UV-C lights that may create ozone.
Style, Operation, Modes, and Features
The Vista 200 is very similar in style and appearance to other Levoit models such as the Core 300, LV-H132, and LV-H133. It is cylindrical, with a control panel on the top, air intake vents all around the bottom, and an air outlet vent at the top. Because the air intake vents are located all around the unit, it should be placed on the ground with at least 15 inches of clear space all around.
The control panel is self-explanatory and easy to use thanks to symbols and indicator lights. This is a modest machine when it comes to features and modes, as there’s no auto mode, air indicator sensor, or WiFi. However, we don’t see this as a negative as not everyone wants a bundle of bells and whistles, especially when the cost is as low as this.
Fan speeds: there are three fan speeds to choose from (via a button and indicator lights)
Timer: set the unit to run for 2, 4, or 8 hours before switching off automatically
Sleep mode: sleep mode switches the unit to the lowest fan speed and reduces the display lights by ⅓
Nightlight: the top of the unit features a gold-toned night light for a soft glow if you need it. However, it can easily be switched off
Display on/off: this is a great feature as it allows you to turn off the LED display lights on the control panel

Maintenance and Filter Requirements
The Vista 200 is an easy machine to maintain and keep clean, with a simple wipe down of the exterior casing when it gets visibly dusty. Otherwise, you just need to change out the filter and it takes care of itself.
How often do the filters need to be changed?
The filters should be changed after durations of between 5 and 8 months, but it depends on how contaminated your air is. The filter change indicator light is only an indication and doesn’t actually monitor the state of the filters. If the filter looks very soiled, or there’s an odd noise or odor, it’s time to switch out the filter even if the light hasn’t come on.
Can the filters be cleaned or washed?
You can use your vacuum cleaner brush to clean the inside and outside of the filter, but you cannot use any liquids.
Where can I get replacement filters for the Vista 200 and how much are they?
You can find the Levoit Vista 200 replacement filter for the best price on Amazon in 2020 here. The filters are very fairly priced compared to other units, and won’t hike your annual costs up.
Levoit Vista 200 Air Purifier vs. Levoit LV-H132 & Levoit Core 300
Levoit LV-H132

- The Levoit LV-H132 and the Vista 200 share the same cylindrical shape with a control panel sitting at the top, featuring a blue or gold night light, respectively
- The LV-H132 has a smaller recommended room size of 129 square feet (a little smaller to the Vista 200’s 171) so it is better for smaller bedrooms or offices
- The filter systems are the same, with a 3-stage filter featuring a true-HEPA and activated carbon layer
- The LV-H132 is a simpler model with 3 fan speeds, a night light on/off button, and a filter reset indicator light. It doesn’t have the sleep mode or timer the Vista 200 has
- In terms of unit and filter replacement costs, these two are exactly the same
- The Vista 200 is a more sophisticated version of the LV-H132 with more features and a slightly larger room size

Noise and Light
As we have come to expect from Levoit, the Vista 200 is a very quiet model (supported by many happy reviews) and even offers a Sleep mode to ensure the quietest operation at night.
The noise range is 26-52 decibels (from lowest to highest fan speed). 26 decibels is equivalent to rustling leaves or a low whisper, and 52 decibels is comparable to a quiet conversation.
If you’re into a warm light to add a little atmosphere to the room, you can use the night light. However, if you can’t tolerate any extra glow in a dark room, you can turn off the night light and the control panel lights.

Frequently Asked Questions
Proposition 65 is a warning attributed to products that are sold in California that contain potential cancer-causing substances. However, Levoit has confirmed that the Vista 200 is Prop 65-approved and is safe, (it is made in California after all).
Hold down the filter change indicator light button for 3 seconds and it will switch off.
Some user reviews complain that the filter replacement light comes on prematurely, after a couple of weeks or even a few days. This doesn’t mean that the filter is dirty, but it could indicate that the light isn’t working as it should. Check the filter itself to figure out when it needs to be changed, and simply switch off the indicator light in the meantime.
